PATTERN PIECES.

1836 Dollar known as the Gobrecht Dollar, with his
name on the base of the figure of Liberty. A very little
nicked, but still a desirable piece. Proof
1836 Another, similar in design, excepting that the name
of Gobrecht is on the fidd of the dollar, between the
date and the base of the figure of Liberty. Of these
there were but Eiyhtei n struck at the time, and they are
consequently very rare, and highly valued by col-
lectors, and this identical piece brought $90 at the
McKenzie sale. It is a most desirable piece for any
fine collection. Fine proof

An Entire Set — Say Ten Pieces — of the Copper 1 Dalers
of Sweden, which* were, in hard times, forced upon the
people at their face value, similar to the Gun money in
England in the time of James the Second

Some collectors are under an impression that five pieces constitute
the set. This is certainly an error, as I have a book in German
styled " Nummi Singulares oder Sondebare Thaler und Munt-
zeu, &c.,” published in Breslau and Leipzig, in 1731, ■which
contains the plates of these ten corresponding to this set, and
in the text they are all described very particularly and several
at considerable length. They are really scarce, and I believe
this is the first set that has ever been offered at auction. The
condition is very good, and the size rather larger than a half-
cent.
